‘Orbit’ Cover Artwork

Izzie Larche

“Why are you afraid to call this home?”

Izzie Larche is a singer-songwriter who approached me to create an album cover for her single, ‘Orbit’.  The song is a melancholy reflection on her changing feelings toward her childhood home, especially when she was forced to return indefinitely due to the Covid pandemic.

I built the concept around a bedroom windowsill where childhood and adult life collide, reflecting the dichotomy felt by the singer. Sentimental items like a stuffed bear and childhood drawings share a space with admin reminders and NHS letters. At the heart of the scene, comic-book planets have been taped to the window - we’re not sure if by the child or the adult - as if the inhabitant is trying to make the world beyond the glass more magical than  reality allows.
